We are pleased to announce the debut of one of our own OWLHEAD COLLECTIVE artists, YER HEART. YER HEART (Colby DeHart from Murfreesboro TN), has been diligently working on this pop masterpiece for the past year and is pleased to have it out to download on Bandcamp. The album is filled with sing-a-longs about love, friendship, and making out. It’s guaranteed to make you tap your toes and nod your head and then bust your ass on the dance floor. YER HEART will set out upon a 2 week tour to support his debut album. Rich Aucoin – “It” (video)

Our good friend and Halifax popstar Rich Aucoin‘s recent full length We’re All Dying to Live is one of the most energetic and ambitious albums we’ve ever heard, as it features a ridiculous 500+ guests appearances and an epic 22 tracks. Now, he’s released his first professional music video, “It,” and it has a fittingly epic and innovative concept.

The video for this soaring, triumphant pop anthem finds Rich re-imagining some of his favorite movie scenes. Director Noah Pink explains the concept:

The concept for this video was born while Rich and I were chatting over coffee in Toronto about movies from our youth that have had a lasting impact on us. It was one of those fun, superfluous conversations that suddenly sparks an idea. Rich always incorporates his favorite film clips and YouTube videos into his live performance, so why not try and take it a step further, putting Rich into the actual films? We took it from there, made a list of about 25 films we wanted to re-create from scratch (putting a Rich-themed twist into every scene), and then I had the difficult task of weeding them down to 10 films that we could achieve with our budget. To be honest, it was a miracle we could pull off as much as we did.

Where do you live?

I live in sleepy little Pensacola, Florida.

What is the last thing you ate?

Well actually, ha. Um.. I just got back from this really southern hole in the wall kind of place, where I ordered some fried liver/bacon cheeseburger/and fries. Its going to haunt me!

Your addiction ?

Sleep is so tight!

What do you collect?

I used to collect like tons of little toy cars, and these little carpets with cities on them. Then I would take the cars and make up up tons of different scenarios for them..

But I leave the collecting to my lady these days.

What is your favorite word?

Gaze or Marble.

What sound or noise do you love?

Sinewave synths doused in reverb!

There are so many people doing great things! Im really blown away by the amount of young producers out there doing super dope stuff!

What about Creative Commons?

Unfortunately Im not very educated on the subject but I use to use a lot of sounds from freesound.org which is this site thats full of almost any sound you can think of that are all licensed under creative commons. Very very neat site!

Favorite venue?

Favorite place I have been to is probably Glasslands in Brooklyn, and favorite place to play is definitely Trash Mountian(Always super wild!)

Favourite place on earth?

I feel like i haven’t seen enough of it to answer this but I would say out West like New Mexico, or this little village that my dad is from in Malayer, Iran! Super duper Gorgeous!

Blastoids

Blastoids is an electronic noise rock band from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. They formed in October 2007, and played their first show soon after. The band consists of Tyler Walker and Charlie Hareford. They are known for their interactive live shows, which often include mass amounts of paint, glitter, confetti, and projected visuals. Through several successful large-scale tours, the band continues to reach new audiences and spread the Owlhead Collective name across the country. They are currently gearing up for their new album and the SXSWendys2 tour.
